How can I repair the hot water dispensing system from turning on at random? Update (08/17/2018) This applies only to the hot water system; the coffee maker/brew system works fine. The hot water system turns on and off at random. This problem started about one week, ago. CHW-12 unit is about 4 years old.
the heating coil need to be replace it get overheated quickly due to been weak and turns back on when it’s cool down which is at your own inconvenient time
Access to the electrical connections and the controller for both the coffee brewer and for the hot water system is from underneath the base of the unit. I have removed one of the electrical connections to the heating element. This did not change the random on/off behavior of the the hot water system.
The ghost has appeared in our home, as well. I imagine this has something to do with the dead people who once lives here. They may have liked tea more than coffee. It seems like we will make coffee, then an hour later the hot water turns on like someone in the afterlife is pressuring us to make them something else. Have you noticed any other issues? Does it only go on when you don’t make Starbucks? Does the fridge door open if you forget creamer? I’m determined to catch this ghost. I have set up some traps and a tape recorder. Someone should get ahold of those guys on Discovery or History Channel.
