I haven’t tried my laptop’s camera for over a year and when I tried to use it I got an error message saying something along the lines of, “camera can not be found.” I tried to uninstall the app and reinstall it but it does not show up under devices so I can’t update it or reinstall. I tried clearing everything off the hard drive and reinstalling windows 10, but when it was finished it still shows the same error message when I try to use it.
Hi @ashleypennybacker,
- Check that the camera is turned on. Go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Camera
- Check the status of the webcam in Device Manager. In the Search field, type Device Manager. i. Click or touch the Device Manager application. ii. Double-click or touch Imaging devices. iii. Right-click or touch Web Camera. Check to see if the webcam is listed in the devices and whether it has a red cross or yellow exclamation mark next to it. If it has a red cross, right click on the webcam entry and then select enable from the options and then check if the webcam now works OK. If it has a yellow exclamation mark, right click on the entry and select update driver and follow the prompts.
