Using a USB camera to feed video to my phone. I had planed to use it for a rear view on my ebike. The ebike has a charging port. I would like to use the ebike charging port to keep the phone charged. They work one at a time. What do I need?
Hi @tdavid7socal , What is the make and model number of the e-bike? A USB hub (example only) might work but a lot depends on the what type the e-bike’s USB charge port is. A USB 2.0 port only supplies 500mA of current @5V which may not be enough to run both the camera and keep the phone charged at the same time. If it is a USB 3.0 port it can supply 900mA @ 5V or 1500mA @ 5V if it is a dedicated charge port only. If it is a USB 3 type, just search for USB 3 hub to get results. Again though if it isn’t a dedicated charge port it may not be able to power both at the same time. With either you can only try and see what happens.
