You’ll need to strip down the system quite far to make room. The button is hot glued to the case. You’ll need a heat gun to soften the glue to get it off and then you should be able to solder on a new set of wires splicing the lines to the old cable end....

Chosen Solution While pulling on the webcam cable, I accidentally tore it from its connector piece. I am aware of this solution that requires the replacement of the cable. However, could I do the repair by reattaching the cable to the connector piece? I should also mention that the solution can require soldering. When it does, it seems full power. 120volt ac is ALWAYS measured on both sides of both brushes when switch is depressed, but only rarely will it run. It’s completely dead, no click, no hum, no heat, no smoke! Brushes look smooth and almost new. Armature appears smooth, but I have not dismantled. I’m convinced the switch is OK....

Run your desktop as usual and check (under Windows) with the My Computer Tab and see if your drive shows up and if you can access it....

I got everything refitted and connected up and discovered that the power and home buttons aren’t working. While carrying out the repair when I was tightening the Taptic Engine down to the metal back plate the studs sheared off so I had to attach the Taptic with double sided tape. When I took the phone apart again I discovered that the Taptic ribbon cable was damaged....
